april fools you look cute everyday keep it up
Anyways happy Black History Month!
Remember to support Black people! Not just famous black people, but Black people in your everyday life. Elevate their voices. Listen to them. Black men, women and nonbinary people. Lightskin and darkskin Black people. Disabled Black people, Black people with all sorts of conditions.
a soft reminder: even though you might be disappointed in how you did this year, you still made a lot of progress. you tried and tried again, so many times. every little thing you achieved. every breakdown you got up from. every moment of happiness you encountered. every little act of self care and kindness you did. it all matters. they all helped you grow. they are all small victories to be proud of. it’s not always clear to see, because day to day everything feels the same, but I promise you’ve come a long way since the beginning of the year. so please be extra gentle with yourself when looking back. be proud of yourself too, if you can. you did well.
if i have to read another white adult say that racist teens are just going through a phase and nobody’s born woke and white supremacists target children, i’m actually going to be violent. am i supposed to feel sympathy for people terrorizing kids of color? i don’t. am i supposed to go along with excuses that justify behavior that traumatizes kids of color? i won’t.
nobody’s born woke, but kids of color know from the moment we can understand words that we are going to be put through hell simply because of the color of our skin and/or our religion. kids of color are born only to learn that there are people out there who hate us and for whom making our lives miserable is a pleasure and a goal. and once we become adults, some of those people’s hatred will only become more virulent while others will be babied for their actions that terrorized our childhood and adolescene. i don’t care if white supremacists target white teens, because they target kids of color much worse. there is not a story you can spin that will make me go “i understand now why you believed that my people and other poc and jewish people deserve to die and why you permanently damaged children of color and jewish children.”
there’s no such thing as a racist or nazi phase. you will not be getting my sympathy because you terrorized poc and jewish people as a teen and now you’ve been shamed into stopping and shamed into being more subtle. you know who i empathize for and care about? your victims.
I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)
Some tribal owned grocers that ship:
Tanka Bars (Oglala)
Indian Pueblo Store (Pueblos)
Twisted Cedar Wine (Cedar Paiutes)
Seka Hills Olive Oil and Vinegars (Yocha Dehe Wintun)
She Nah Nam Seafood (Nisqually)
Sakari Botanicals (Inupiaq)
Honor the Earth (? Anishinaabe)
Nett Lake Wild Rice (Boise Forte Anishinaabe)
Passamaquoddy maple (Passamaquoddy)
BONUS: coffee :)
Yeego Coffee (Navajo)
Spirit Mountain Roasting (Yuma Quechan)
Birchbark Coffee (Anishinaabe)
Thunder Island Coffee (Shinnecock)
what is it about men’s hands. i’m serious. they..
